New recruitment campaign in the autumn

15.06.2010

The last volunteers for the World Ski Championships will be recruited in late August to early September. "We need around 800 new volunteers, in addition to those we recruited in advance of the World Cup. Volunteers are our most important resource and a key success factor", says HR manager Mari R. Nygaard.

According to Nygaard, the 1200 volunteer officials made a fantastic contribution during the FIS Nordic World Cup in March 2010. Fortunately many of them want to continue next year. In addition, a few hundred extra were recruited in connection with the previous application process. The WSC organisers hope that they too will be ready for action in February and March next year.

Culture and evening shows
OSLO2011 will need 2,000 volunteers to deliver the best World Championships ever at Holmenkollen and create enthusiasm in Oslo and all over Norway. The volunteer tasks include accommodation assistance, spectator services, hosting, nation services, arena operations, conducting the sporting competitions, transportation, parking and media support. In addition, the organisers need volunteers who can work on the cultural program and evening shows at University Square in downtown Oslo.
"The World Cup did not include a cultural program in Oslo. Moreover, it was only a weekend, compared to the 12 WSC days. Therefore, we need an infusion of additional energy and enthusiasm to ensure a great event ", said Nygaard.

Fun and informative
Nygaard hopes that many people apply. Those who are chosen will be part of a memorable celebration of skiing at the brand new national arena at Holmenkollen.
"It's fun to work at sporting events. You are part of a positive community, gain unique experience and build a wider network".
