Programme of events is unveiled

06.06.2010

WSC at Holmenkollen will feature many afternoon events, two night ski jumping competitions and several events per day and we are gearing up for a spectaculer event next winter. The final programme was decided at an FIS congress in Turkey June 4.

Åsne Havnelid, CEO

The WSC programme is tightly packed with 21 events over 12 days (23 February - 6 March). Many of the most popular weekday events will start at 14:00 or 15:00 specifically to make them more accessible to the public. There will be eleven days of Cross-Country, four days of Nordic Combined and six days of Ski Jumping. On several days there will be multiple events making it possible to have a very exciting day watching different disciplines.

Short distance between the arenas
"We hope the public uses the opportunity to see several disciplines on the same day. The short distance between the various arenas at Holmenkollen make our WSC unique," says Åsne Havnelid, CEO of Ski-VM 2011 (FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011).

Evening shows in the city
All medal ceremonies will take place in the University Square in downtown Oslo. As well as the prestigous medal ceremonies there will be free stage shows and concerts from 19:00 to 20:00 every evening. "We want to create an unforgettable celebration and show visitors and residents that the WSC is more than a ski race," says Havnelid.
