Direct send TV from the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo had over 250 million viewers. 28 million Norwegians were
following the live TV coverage from Holmenkollen during the 11 event days.
Thousands of spectators enjoyed themselves at Holmenkollen during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. A total of 70 000
waffles, 3,5 tons of stew and 44 000 liters of coffee were sold at the arena, while 80 tons of bonfire wood bundles were sold
at the outer race course area. Beneath are some interesting sales figures from the days of the championships.
With a fantastic spectator participation both down town at the medal ceremony, out in the outer tracks and in the tickets
arenas, at least 1,2 million people were live exposed for the world championships events. Here you find figures for spectators,

On Sunday afternoon, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships ended with the medal ceremony after the 50k, followed by the closing
ceremony. – Norway and all Norwegians: you should be proud, said FIS-president Gian-Franco Kasper, who called the championships
for a unique skiing festival.
Sunday morning the Oslo 2011 Organizing Comittee and FIS held a closing press conference at Holmenkollen. They presented numbers
of spectators, unprecedented in FIS Nordic World Ski Championships history.
Sunshine from a clear sky, two Norwegian cross-country medals and thousands of enthusiastic spectators at both the arena and
out in the woods. Saturday's 30km cross-country for ladies was a great ski party.
The medal ceremony will take place in the Cross-Country arena immediately after the 50km race is finished and directly followed
by a simple closing ceremony. This means that there is no event in the city centre.

It was truly a golden atmosphere at the Medal's Ceremony at the University Square on Sunday evening. Over 50,000 people came
out to cheer for the medal winners. They turned up the volume for Petter Northug, and the golden boy was clearly touched.
Close to 28.500 people was in Holmenkollen today to watch the Cross-Country 30km pursuit for men, and cheer the athletes on
their way to the finishing line. In the Chapel Forest a few Janitsjar Bands had found their place, as welcome and farewell
committee.
The dance group Quikc, the dance squad Frikar and dancers from the dance academy Bårdar showed impressive body control during
saturday nights dance performance. Nearly 50 000 made the trip to Univerity Square to watch the medal ceremony and the dance
show.
On one of the busiest days of the championships where we will see three new champions, only a few tickets are left. During
the whole championships, we recommend that spectators check the ticket status on our website before travelling up to Holmenkollen.

Also tonight thousands showed up at University Square to praise today's medal winners. The girl band Katzenjammer played before
the awarding of the medalists in the championships' only ski jump competition for women.

The official opening press conference for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo was held at 11 am today in the
main media centre at Holmenkollen. Representatives from FIS and the organizing committee wished Norwegian and international
media a warm welcome and informed about the upcoming event.

On January 21st the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship 2011 and the Chairman of the Board, Svein Aaser, formally took over
the Holmenkollen national arena from the Oslo municipality. At a press conference at Holmenkollen the key was ceremoniously
handed over from Mayor Fabian Stang.
The 50 km course at Holmenkollen is thought to be the world's hardest ski course due to its challenging uphill slopes. FIS
Nordic World Ski Championship 2011 Sports Director John Aalberg thinks everyone in the cross-country skiing community will
consider the winner of the 50 km race the toughest skier in the WSC.
55 WSC certified restaurants and cafés in Oslo and the surrounding area will be showcasing Norwegian food culture to Norwegian

Norges Bank issues a commemorative coin in connection with the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship at Holmenkollen. The silver
coin is minted in an issue limited to 40 000, and will cost NOK 475.
Oslo 2011 launched a web shop on 1 December where you can buy official FIS Nordic World Ski Championships products, either
for yourself or as Christmas presents for your loved ones. Hats, jackets, backpacks, sleds, bells, seating pads and other
souvenirs are among the available products.
Taking business guests to the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is proving to be a popular idea. Several of the competition
days during the WSC are already sold out. "But it is still possible to get VIP packages for some of the days," says general

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 is more than a sporting event. Through a rich cultural programme, spectators and
TV viewers will be served a variety of cultural activities throughout the championships.

On Monday 15 November, Culture Minister Anniken Huitfeldt and CEO Åsne Havnelid officially confirmed that there are just 100

The public competition is over and the mascots now have names. The girl is Fnugg and the boy is Ull. The names reflect the
mascots' personalities and the vision of Oslo 2011 - to delight and spread the joy of winter.
In two months, a total of 100 000 tickets for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Oslo 2011 have been sold. ”We are very
happy with the ticket sales, but want to emphasise that none of the events are sold out. There are still many tickets left,”
says PR and Communication Manager Nina Horn Hynne.

International Ski Federation (FIS) officials gathered in Oslo on Thursday 7th October to complete a final inspection. They
were very satisfied with what they saw.
