(Oslo, March 9th 2011). Oslo 2011 have gathered figures regarding spectators, media representatives and athletes. A total of 1,2 million spectators were exposed live during the 12 competition days, divided into stadium spectators, those along the outer cross-country trails and those at the evening ceremonies in the city center of Oslo.

FIS very optimistic about Oslo 2011

Gro Eide to be Media Director in Ski-VM 2011

(Oslo, 23 September 2010) Gro Eide, 46, who has extensive and relevant experience from a number of major sporting events, has joined Ski-VM 2011 as media director. The media specialist from Trøndelag will ensure that about 1800 press and media people from Norway and abroad have the best possible working environment at the World Ski Championships in Oslo this winter.

Invitation to the 2011 World Championships is now out

(Oslo, 2 July 2010) The official invitation to the 2011 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was sent out 1 July to all Nordic ski Nations. The invitation includes information for the teams about the competition program, the venue, the City of Oslo as well as miscellanous practical information. The first deadline for team registration is in October.

The Soria Moria Hotel and Conference Centre won the "Enough of the right food" competition held during the trial World Cup. “We appreciate the great effort made by all the hotels toward our food project. The mayor is active for the World Championships

(Oslo, 27 January 2010) Today was the kick off of the “Aktiv til VM” (Active for WSC) project. 180 children from Rommen School joined the mayor and representatives from FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011, the Association for the Promotion of Skiing and the Norwegian Ski Association.

Espen Bjervig is leaving FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011

(September 9th, 2009) Espen Bjervig is leaving his position as Director of Sports at the World Ski Championships 2011, due to a very exciting offer from his previous employer. “We are sad to lose Espen. The sporting director’s role is important to us and he has performed it well. Fortunately there are some good candidates ready to replace Espen and we are already in dialogue with them,” says Åsne Havnelid, CEO of WSC 2011.

Lasse Ottesen joins the 2011 World Ski Championships

(August 14th, 2009) Lasse Ottesen, the former Norwegian national team ski jumper, will on 1 September become the Assistant Director of Sports at the 2011 WSC. Lasse Ottesen and Espen Bjervig, the Director of Sports, will work together to make sure that the best possible sporting conditions are in place. They will also assist the race directors and offer services to the ski teams.
